About Me

Catherine: My Grandmother taught me to knit. Like most little girls in the 1950s the first thing I made was a garter stitch square in white cotton - a dish-cloth, full of dropped stitch holes. In my life I have knitted with varying degrees of enthusiasm. A fashion for big chunky sweaters got me going once, another time the birth of my first baby and yet another, a holiday in France where the choice of wool and knitting patterns seemed so much better. Then two years ago came my first grandchild and about the same time I discovered the community of knitters on the internet, oh wow...

Book reviews

I am not paid for any of the book reviews I write here. But I am sent some lovely books free that I can keep after reviewing. I will only review books where I can say something positive but I also aim to be objective and try out at least one of the projects in the books before forming an opinion. It has not happened yet but if I think a book is not worth recommending I will return it to the publisher.

I love to hear that readers of my blog are trying out some of the ideas I write about here. I am also very happy for anyone to reproduce the projects on a small scale to sell at bazaars for charity.
